About the Comic

“Uncle Sam” is a story I initially developed at the age of 12.  It is the story of an average family – father Robert, mother Jenny, and sons Rad (Robert Jr.) and Jason – who are put into an unusual circumstance.  Jenny’s brother (and therefore the boys’ uncle) Sam has come to live with them, and with his addition the family dynamics are changed to include him in their daily lives.  And yet, their core values are never truly lost.

This story draws some inspiration from my own family, such as Sam being named for my great-grandfather, Sam Arnold, who was an artists cartoonist by hobby, with some of his work still adorning my grandparents’ home.  Though I never knew Sam, stories about his impact on the family resonate to this day.  In the same way I hope this comic strip and its stories resonate with my readers.

“Uncle Sam” is a journey into my ongoing imagination, with some stories fleshing out simple family relationships, while others cross the line into absurd adventures across time and space.  I hope you enjoy this blend of storytelling, and remember that at its heart it is the story of people trying to be the best they can be.

About the Author

I began drawing and cartooning at an early age, greatly inspired by many family members whose artistic talents range the spectrum.  At the same time I was also drawn to intricate stories, and produced many attempts at creative writing with a broad range of subjects matters.  In addition to drawing and writing, I have always been fascinated with the workings of the world, and eagerly sought a strong education in science.  It was no surprise, then, that in college I double majored in English and Physics, and frequently combined the two while writing science fiction stories of epic proportions.

My adult life has been filled with twists and turns, including graduate school and several career changes.  And yet throughout each new professional or personal path I have always returned to my writing and drawing as a way to fulfill my soul.  In time, I knew I needed to share my work with the world, and earnestly began transforming my 12-year-old doodles into high quality stories.  Through this venture, I hope I can brighten your day, and maybe even inspire you through the adventures of my characters.
